Paris: The sites of the Terrorist Attacks.

I have decided to visit the sites of the Paris terrorist attacks in November 2015, a few at a time both to give me time to let the monstrosity of what happened at each site to sink in and also to avoid getting overwhelmed by the experience.  Today I visited A La Bonne Biere at 32 rue du Faubourg du Temple and La Casa Nostra right around the corner at 2 rue de la Fontaine au Roi.  La Bonne Biere has reopened but La Casa Nostra remains shuttered.  If it were not for the floral memorials at both locations they would seem like two very ordinary cafes in a working class neighborhood and I found it nearly impossible to imagine what might possess someone to decide to wantonly and randomly murder innocent ordinary people at these two very ordinary cafes.  I stood there looking at the two locations, so close to each other that the patrons could almost reach out and touch each other, and tried to conjure in my mind what the scene of bloody chaos must have been like on that fateful Friday night in November.  Every time that I heard a siren shriek all day long in Paris today I kept thinking: could there have been another attack today??  But no, today was cold and grey in Paris but I am happy to report that there were no new terrorist attacks today.  I continued walking down rue du Faubourg du Temple until I reached the Place de la Republique, the former location of the Bastille Prison overthrown and symbolized for the French: Quatorze Juillet or 14 July their Independence Day and now occupied by a statue of “Marianne” the symbol of the French Republic.  As my photos show, the base of the statue is covered by floral and written tributes to the victims of the Charlie Hebdo and November, 2015 terrorist attacks.  It was a scene not to be forgotten.
