King Charles III: A Future History Play

Fantastic production of a fantasy conception of what might happen when Queen Elizabeth II dies and Charles becomes King.  Charles, played masterfully by Tim Pigott-Smith, decides to use his royal prerogative and dissolve parliament over a disagreement about a bill to limit freedom of the press.  Charles believes that the bill will curtail freedom of the press and leave what is published open to the whims of government in the future.  All of the usual suspects including Camilla, William, Kate, Harry and even the ghost of Diana all have their royal say as well as the leaders of the two major political parties.  Part comedy and part to address the increasing attention to the place of the royal family in British life, it is brought to life not only by brilliant acting but also by excellent lighting, staging and even lovely, live music by cellist Maria Jeffers and oboist Christa Robinson.  King Charles III is a delightful way to spend a Sunday afternoon in New York.
